When is it safe to eat an egg?
Updated: Apr 25, 2019
With egg recalls due to salmonella outbreaks, when is an egg truly safe to eat? Our diagram below can help.
As you can see, only pasteurised eggs are safe to eat at any temperature.
That's because our pasteurisation process eliminates 99.999% of harmful bacteria from the yolk, all the way to the outside of the egg.
Australia has the highest number of food borne illnesses in the world, with 40% of these as the result of incorrectly cooked eggs.
After pasteurisation, we coat the eggs in a food grade wax which helps seal in the freshness, and keeps harmful bacteria from making it's way into the egg.
And Australian Pasteurised Eggs is the ONLY 'in shell' egg pasteuriser in Australia.
